Submission Guidelines

  • Submission Languages: manuscripts are accepted in English or French.
  • Required Structure: manuscripts should normally include Title, Abstract of 150–250 words, 4–6 Keywords, Introduction, Literature Review or Historiographical Framework where appropriate, Methodology, Analysis or Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and References.

Given the diversity of historical and civilizational research, manuscripts are not required to follow a conventional empirical structure when such a format is inappropriate. Archival, historiographical, archaeological, theoretical, comparative, and documentary studies may be organized into coherent chronological or thematic sections and subsections suited to the research question and methodology.

  • Manuscript Preparation: authors must prepare submissions in accordance with the journal’s official manuscript template and formatting requirements.
  • Authors must clearly identify and appropriately document primary and secondary sources.
  • Archival references should provide sufficient information to identify the archive, collection, series, document, file, or manuscript used.
  • Maps, photographs, archaeological images, illustrations, manuscripts, and other visual materials must be clear, accurately captioned, and accompanied by source and copyright information where applicable.
  • Research Articles: normally between 6,000 and 10,000 words.
  • Research Notes: normally between 3,000 and 5,000 words.
  • Submission Method: manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the journal’s online submission platform.
  • Editorial Process:
  1. Initial screening by the Editor-in-Chief or editorial team.
  2. Double-blind peer review by at least two qualified reviewers.
  3. Revision by the author where required.
  4. Assessment of the revised manuscript.
  5. Final editorial decision based on originality, academic quality, methodological rigor, accuracy of sources, and relevance to the journal.

Authors conducting oral-history interviews, anthropological fieldwork, community-based research, or research involving sensitive personal information must comply with applicable ethical, confidentiality, and informed-consent requirements.
