Historical Horizons and Civilizational Studies applies editorial and publication policies designed to protect academic quality, research integrity, editorial independence, and fairness throughout the publication process.

All manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to determine whether they:

• fall within the journal’s aims and scope;
• meet minimum academic and methodological standards;
• comply with the journal’s formatting and submission requirements;
• demonstrate sufficient originality and scholarly relevance.

Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of authors and reviewers remain confidential.

Editorial decisions are based on criteria including:

• relevance and clarity of the research question;
• methodological rigor;
• quality and diversity of primary and secondary sources;
• accuracy in the use of archival, archaeological, documentary, oral, or material evidence;
• depth of historical or civilizational interpretation;
• coherence of argumentation;
• accuracy of citations and references;
• relevance to the journal’s field;
• compliance with publication ethics.

The journal maintains complete editorial independence. Financial, institutional, personal, political, ideological, religious, or cultural considerations do not influence decisions regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection.

Editors may request minor or major revisions before a final editorial decision is reached.

The journal may publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions whenever significant errors or breaches of publication ethics are identified after publication.
